Misir Ali Series
The renowned Bangladeshi author, Humayun Ahmed (13 November 1948 – 19 July 2012), is well-known for his contribution to literature, screenplay writing, and filmmaking. With an impressive portfolio of over 200 fiction and non-fiction books, all of which became popular bestsellers, Ahmed's writing style is often characterized as possessing elements of magical realism.
One of his notable creations is the Misir Ali Series. This fictional series features the character of Misir Ali, a psychiatrist. Misir Ali is depicted as a tall, thin man with a dark complexion. He is not only highly intelligent but also serves as a part-time professor of Psychology at the University of Dhaka. Despite not being a professional psychiatrist, his vast knowledge and keen interest in parapsychology attract people to seek his help for psychiatric treatment. Misir Ali, being a rational individual, strongly denies the existence of any paranormal activities.
In his pursuit of solving mysteries, Misir Ali never accepts any payment for his services. He solely relies on logic and analytical thinking to unravel the enigmatic puzzles presented before him. In addition, he maintains a personal diary named "UNSOLVED," where he documents those mysteries which he was unable to solve.
The Misir Ali series is divided into three parts referred to as the Misir Ali Omnibus. It is worth noting that Misir Ali also makes a brief appearance in another of Humayun Ahmed's captivating narratives titled "Himur ditiyo prohor."
